New whitepaper just released from Matilda team: "OSS for 5G-Ready Applications".
The presented work explains in details the overall system architecture adopted to orchestrate the 5G-ready applications, the Network Platform Layer, the extended operations support system (OSS), the Wide Area Infrastructure Manager (WIM), the COmputing Slice Manager (CSM) and the MultiSite NFV Orchestrator (NFVO).

5th MATILDA Plenary Meeting in Athens

The 5th MATILDA Plenary Meeting is taking place in Athens on 9-11 April, hosted by the University of Piraeus.
Three full days for deep technical discussions about the activities status, deliverables and next actions for the Communication and Dissemination tasks, comprising an exciting project expoitation workshop arranged by the WP7 Leader ATOS.
The main topics of the discussions are related to WP2 (and in particular the dashboard, Graph Composer, Policies Editor and Recommender topics), WP3 (mainly covering the Vertical Application Orchestrator, the Context Awareness Engine, the CEP Mechanisms and the Deployment, the Runtime Policies and the Data analytics topic ), WP4 (including the Multi-site VIM, Slice Manager, OSS, Northbound Interfaces and End to end Active and Passive Monitoring Mechanisms in the Network Slice ) and all the use cases and demonstrators.

MATILDA paper on IEEE Communications Magazine

The "Mobile Edge Vertical Computing over 5G Network Sliced Infrastructures", authored by R. Bruschi, R. Bolla, F. Davoli (CNIT) and A. Zafeiropoulos, P. Gouvas (UBITECH), has been accepted for publication on the IEEE Communications Magazine.
Here is the paper abstract: "5G is designed to leverage on network softwarization technologies, like NFV and MEC, to expose customized network instances and resources at the edge of the infrastructure to vertical stakeholders. Most of the 5G success will depend on the ability to attract vertical stakeholders acting in the cloud, enabling them to smoothly port cloud applications to 5G, and to add performance and cognitive capabilities not supported in cloud environments. To this end, this article provides an insight into the possible architectural approaches to fully integrate vApps into the 5G infrastructure. The article follows a top-down approach. First, it provides an outlook on the state of the art in cloud application design, and on the new MEC and NFV capabilities. Then, on this basis, the analysis is devoted to identifying integration issues not yet fully addressed in standards specifications. Two alternative architectural approaches are discussed."
